Congratulations, Colleen
This prestigious award was well-earned by Colleen Saunders, freshman at Severna Park High School. Colleen began working toward this award in 6th grade and completed the requirements in May 2012.
Students who study with a member teacher of the Maryland State Music Teacher’s Association are required to accumulate 400 points from 5 different event types over a 3 year period in order to earn this award. Colleen successfully accumulated over 600 points by participating in the Maryland State Theory and Keyboard exams, Maryland Spring Festival Piano Solo Competitions, Anne Arundel County Spring Piano Solo Competition in 2010, the AAMTA’s annual Fall at the Mall, Water Music Festival, and Ginger Cove Holiday Festival and various community service performances.
Colleen’s accomplishments include the MSMTA Keyboard and Theory Honors Awards for outstanding scores in levels 1-5, the Honorable Mention in the Maryland Spring Festival Piano Solo Competition in 2010, and 3rd place in the Anne Arundel County Spring Piano Solo Competition 2010.
Way to go Colleen! Thanks for being such a good role model for Sarah.
